Default Monster Blue Grouse (PIC)

I shot a Blue Grouse a couple days ago that was the biggest one I' ve ever taken.
Just the breast alone weighed 1 lb - 12 oz. Here is a pic of the breast of the Blue compared to a real nice Ruff.

Also got a nice Honker.

Default Flatheader

Flatheader,

For the Blue, I was using a 12 ga, 2-3/4" , Remington Heavy load, #6 shot.

For the Goose, it was 12 ga, 3" , Hevi-Shot, #4 shot.

Default flatheader

We fix ' em every way possible. Grouse cutlets, Grouse stew with fluffy dumplings, Grouse nuggets, etc etc. My wife cans a lot of our game, and canned Grouse can be used any way you choose.

Doc - Looks like some darned good eating to me! We' ve slow-broiled them, too - then about 15 minutes before they come out of the oven, we slather on a wild berry glaze and leave the broiler heat on " low" and let it carmelize slightly. Really tastey!
