Default Blue Grouse

My 16 and 11 year old sons and I are planning a blue grouse hunt in the next couple of weeks. Could anyone suggest a good location or two with in an hour or so of the Denver metro area. we can' t travel too far since my wife is chronically ill and need to return home each evening.

This will be the first blue grouse hunt for all three of us.

Default RE: Blue Grouse

Sorry to hear about your wife. Check maps for public land just above the foothills where aspens meet or are interspersed with dark timber. They love to hang on the edges of this stuff. (water is key too) The grouse are rampant this year. Big broods. If you can access the higher country quickly via I-70, I would check up thatta way for easy NF access. Hope you find a good spot.
