Another Bowtech goes crack

Buck, I did the search and those were the results. As for the thing about Hoyts blowing up when pressed wrong..duh. Sorry if anyone has blown one up on here (I doubt it) but come on, if you don't know what you are doing don't do it. From what I have heard, they had 102 risers that cracked, 98 were pressed wrong. The other 4 were from other causes(Such as driving over them with a car) only one of which was a manufacturing problem. There is an obvious problem with bowtech limbs, too many have broke for it to simply be a fluke.

Help me to better understand you're way of thinking ewolf...
You say you heard Hoyt had 102 risers that cracked and that 98 of them were due to improper pressing however of the handful of limb failures on the BowTech's that DaveC listed above, those were OBVIOUSLY a problem with the materials, not the presses or people pressing them.
Please explain...

Personally I wish this post and all others like it would die.
But Ewolf's search findings got my curiosity up since I could name at least 5 site members with limb issues off hand.
With much free time on my hands at work I pulled a search on the words "bowtech limbs" and here's the list of names/bows with limb issues I gathered by reading through all the hits.
In random order-
1. Josh Keller- Liberty (3 set's, possible limb pocket issue)

P.S. They did indeed confirm that it was a limb pocket problem. They said it was machined incorrectly and it was causing alot of stress right over the end of the pocket, in turn causing my limb to crack. I currently have about 1,000 shots on these new limbs, and no problems. Plus, I think my bow was easier to tune with these new limbs!

Wow,I didn't mean to start a spitting contest but thanks for making this the longest thread I've ever started. That's got to be worth something somewhere.lol The answer to the question about who has the best bow is constantly changing, right now I think it's Bowtech (personal opinion) Who makes a bow line without problems? No one,but problems are solved when complaints are taken seriously by the Mfg. researched and resolved (I think BT has the edge in that area right now). Is there a problem with (04) BT limbs? There was with mine and quite a few others so if you own one keep it checked closely. Will we ever be able to buy the latest bow design and shoot it problem free? Not as long as we keep demanding faster, quieter, smoother more accurate bows than we had last year. Do you want a bow with most of the bugs worked out? Buy a new 3-5 year old design. Should it take 2-4-8 weeks to get a bow repaired? NO Mfg.'s should make it a part of a dealer's package to place in his inventiry or regonal distribution hubs(with overnight shipping) a pool of spare parts for mid to high end bows. That could lead to exceptional customer service. My problem was taken care of quickly I'm happy but if I had to wait as long as some have I would NOT be a happy camper. The bow company that steps up service to this level will be very close to making that perfect bow we are all searching for. Bickering never solves anything, think about what would solve your problem and suggest it,Hope someone from BT reads this, they are close to the perfect bow now

Gibblet, just figured I'd post a picture so you could see where my limb would crack. It was always just a hairline crack. If you took the pressure off the limbs, you would never know its there. The only reason I even looked the first time was because I heard a slight splitting/cracking sound while I was drawing back.

josh, oh do i know the 'tick' sound and slight shock it sends through the string and down into the riser and then against the palm. just about full draw is when it would happen. i've said it before, i really feel like i could drive over this set (different bow, same model, provided with no headache from my favorite company) with a truck and they would be ok. john

I firmly believe that Bowtech had a slight issue with limbs last year. Though I don't think it was their fault. They may have had rash of bad limbs. This is the nature of the beast when you depend on outside suppliers. You can monitor QA on everything you do, but who's to say the other guy is as strict as you are? I think the 05's will be trouble free. As most of us with an 05 have noticed, they put a block over the end of the limb where the limb bolt goes in. This just gives the limb more support.
On another note, I am surprised that more companies arent going to a laminated limb. Its my understanding that Hoyt has the lowest limb failure rate in the industry. Maybe there is more to the split limb design than originally thought. I don't know, i'm not an engineer or expert but it stands to reason.
I love my new Allegiance. Its a great shooting bow and extremely quite. So far, I have not had a lick of trouble with mine. Hats off to Bowtech for their customer service and support provided to the people with problems. Thats a true class act company.
