I was doing some practice with a tru ball chappy boss release today. I could not get a idea of weather it was going to tighten up my groups or not. For me to really tell I need to lenghten my draw lenght an inch so I got a good nocking point. The release is my shop owners back up and is slightly used and I can buy it for 50 dollars. He taught me how to use it as a back tension release.
What should I do, buy it and raise my draw length just to see if I like it and my groups will tighten up or not.
Right now I am shooting a 15 year old high country wrist strap caliper release.

Why would you have to lenghten your draw lenght?
Just have your normal anchor points string on nose nock in the corner of your mouth and your knuckles should be at the bend in your jaw.

I like to set my anchor with my index finger knuckle right behind the jaw bone below the ear. This position is good and comfortable for me. I don't use the string as my reference point, I use the knuckle. This may be incorrect however it does do the trick.

I also shoot a chappy boss.... I find that if you have the anchor point ( such as you refer to it as your index finger knuckle )to far back that there is a tendency to drop your release arm elbow......... holding with the anchor you refer to I find myself haveing to really strain to get the release elbow to stay up and a straining uncomfortable shooting form is not condusive for me to good shooting... the elbow wants to naturally drop because it is more comfortable... but by useing the string as my reference by haveing the string contact the same place on my nose at full draw and with the release hand anchored on the side of the cheek just in front of the ear with my cheek bone ( I have high cheek bones )laying between my (fist knuckles) of the pinky finger and the ring finger that there is much more ease to keep the release arm elbow up.
Now with this kind of anchor due to your draw length you may have to lose the string loop or shoot with a straighter bow arm ... that is if you dont want to ajust your draw length.... but I would if it was me ajust the draw length to fit the anchor point and keep the string loop.... remember with a wrist strap release many will make your release hand sit farther back from the string due to the length of the release extension and head.... a release with the chappy boss will make your release hand sit closer to the string since it is a smaller hand held release with a shorter distance from the hand to the release head.

First of all, get the Chappy Boss. That is a smoking deal. I almost bought one, but got the Ultra Extreme instead last week, and they both carry a retail price of $150+. The Chappy Boss or other similar Tru Ball releases is leaps and bounds better than any $150 or less release I have ever shot and seems to have less loading and trigger travel than the Carters of similar price point.
With that said, it will change the placement of where your hand goes when you anchor. I would NOT lengthen your draw though. My Ultra Extreme has the Talon Head even closer to the T handle than your Chappy Boss, and makes it feel considerably shorter than my old Tru Fire release, however I did not lengthen it. Lengthening it does increase the likely hood of you dropping your arm after the shot.
You will like the release though, the trigger breaks like glass........

you definately should not have to lengthen yoiur draw length, a chappy boss for 50$ is a hell of a deal, if the funds are available though i would put the money toward a new bow there has been alot of advancements in the archery industry in the last 15 years, good luck to ya
