Default Bowtechies: ? about Sight Windage

Ok, I know this new (2004 and 2005) riser needs additional windage for the rest which other threads have measured at 1 7/8" from the inside of the rest to centershot.

How far offset are your sight pins as a result? You can measure from inside of the riser or from the inside of the sight mounting bracket. It looks like I am going to need over 2" (from inside of the sight mounting bracket) on my defender when the rest is at 1 7/8". I cannot get that on a couple of my sights, but wanted to check to see how far offset your sights are.

Thanks.

One thing about that 1 7/8" reference point that everyone is talking about.......as far as I know that is a starting point quoted for the Allegiance ONLY. It may be inside that mark.The Trophy ridge drop Zone falls at about 1 3/4" of horizontal windage and I am hearing many Allegiance shooters who are having no tuning problems.
Treat all the 2005's on an individual basis with regards to to tuning your accessories. Don't just slap a rest on and set it to 1 7/8" from rest mounting plate and have at it.......

I set my Old Glory up this past week and the centershot is actually about 1" or 15/16" or so (can't remember now) from arrow shelf side which puts it about 1 5/8" from the far side of the riser.

I'm a bit confused about your statement of needing 2" from the inside of the sight bracket if your rest is 1 7/8".........the rest should actually be mounted a little FURTHER outside than the sight due to the offside shape of the riser by about 1/8". (At least on My old Glory) So if you have your sights set at 2" of windage and rest at 1 7/8" in reality you have about 1/4" MORE travel in your sight windage adjustment. In other words........2" of sight windage should reach 1/4" beyond centershot.

Matt/PA;

I have not tuned it. I just put on a rest and "eyeballed" it for centershot. I measured afterwards and it is actually 1 7/8" as most have mentioned for their Allegiance. Bear in mind, this is actually a Defender that I am setting up. When I took a couple of shots in my basement, I had to adjust my sight over 2" (from the inside of the mounting bracket) to tune to the arrow with the rest at 1 7/8". I actually had to move the rest inside centershot (by eyeballing) because my spot hogg sight would not adjust out that far.

It very well may be that the rest needs to move in some and I will find that with tuning in the very near future. I just wondered what setting you guys needed with your sights, since the Allegiance does require 1 7/8" rest offset for centershot.

I admit that I am getting the cart a head of the horse, but I wanted to shoot the bow. The problem is that the XL trophy taker I want to put on the bow has not come in, so I threw an old prong style rest on the bow for now. I did not want to go though the steps of fine tuning, but then do it all over with the new rest in a couple of days.

Bowscout,

Thanks. That is about what I thought. My Sureloc and Spot-hogg sights max just over 2", so it is going to be close. Bowtech needs to inset there riser about 1/4" towards center, so we don't have to buy all new accessories and we have a little "wiggle room" for tuning.
