Default arrow weight help

Thinking that my arrow weight may be a little on the light side for hunting but dont know if I am figuring it right. I am using Easton Epic C2 400 carbon arrows cut 28.5 inches, 100 grain fixed broadheads/ field points. Eastons web site says they weigh 8.17 grains per inch. My bow is a Hoyt Ultrasport and my draw weight is 60 lbs. Any help/info would be appreciated.

I figure about 370 grains, assuming vanes and not feathers.

This gives you right at 6 grains per # of draw weight. IBO "minimum" states 5 grains per # of draw weight minimum recommended to prevent damage to the bow. Some guys like to fling hunting arrows at this minimum, some like them heavier. If you are choosing the proper broadheads, are getting good flight and take good shots, you should have no problem with your arrows for hunting whitetails on down.

For some good discussion, I recommend you do a search here with key words like "kinetic energy" and "momentum". That should give you a good understanding of the issues at play, and save Art a whole bunch of typing...

If the gr per in is correct, you will be fine. You should be close to 400 gr total weight.

I guess thats why I am asking. My arrow flight is not that good. Seems to me that I am on the bubble as far as weight goes and could go with a heavier arrow and maybe improve tuning, quietness, etc. Forgot to mention whisker bisquit arrow rest and I am currently using vanes.
