Ok my dumbbutt shot a wood chuck in front of my 17 week old chessie with my 223. Needless to say he ran the other way in a big hurry. I hope i didnot make this dog GUN shy. Anythoughtswould be greatly welcomed

You did screw up but you can work though it. Intro the gun as it is outlined in the training program you are using but do it very slowly. If you take you your time and the dog has a high prey drive, you should be fine if you are careful about gunfire from here on out.
