ORIGINAL: brent44mag

I also changed my mind on what rifle to bring. I bought a weatherby 7 MM and shot it last Sunday. I think your gonna like it.
Congrats on the new addition as well. I stil havent made it out to the range, my water pump is going out so I have to take care of that tomorrow. Its been so long since I have shot a 7mag. 12years actually, it was the first rifle I ever shot. I was 14, it thumped me pretty good.

Millertime10,

Not to bust your dream of a elk bow kill, but I'm pretty sure they will only let you use a rifle at the Wichita Mt. NWR. You are also limited to how many rounds you are allowed to take in with you. Either way, it is still the hunt of a lifetime!!
Man, that did kinda burst my bubble. [&:] Oh well, I plan on going out of state to pursue an elk sometime in the future anyhow. That still won't keep me from applying for the hunt in Oklahoma, it would still be a hunt of a lifetime, gun or bow.

The way I understand it is its one draw and your done, whether or not you participate. As a guy that has put in for 10 yrs and not gotten drawn in, it had better be that way...sorry buck-i for being harsh.

It is a shame your not able to go, but being as they are now, one and done, Id find a way to go. a 800# cow elk in the freezer would feed a family for quite some time. Is it already too late to pay? I know there are different time schedules for different hunts.

Thats awesome they let you pay it. I really hope you can make it out there, I cant wait.

Heck yeah dove season is getting really close. I jsut hope that last storm didnt run alot of them off. My wife is due to have our little girl oct 20th, and ill miss deer season so I told her not to plan on seeing me sept 1,2,or 3. I think we are going to head to mountain park on the 2nd and maybe up to black kettle on the 3rd. More than likely hit lexinton on the first since I have to work till 11pm on friday
