hey all i was just wondering how much damage a winchester ballistic tip .243 55gr bullet would do to a coyote standing broadside at 100yards. how much would the same bullet in 95gr do?
how much difference in damage would there be from a 55gr bullet to a 110gr bullet?
im just wonderin cuz i still cant decide on if i want to get a .22-250 or a .243 and i was just wondering if 40-55gr .22-250 would do more damage to a yote since they faster or 55-95gr .243?
if i get the .22-250 theres all kinds of varmint loads for it but for the .243 i havnt noticed many factory 55gr cartidges.....
dam i hate this!!!!!! i cant figure out which one i want!!!!!
be shootin stuff from crows to yotes out to 400 yards (usually around 250yard shots) and theres not many days that theres no wind at all....usually like 5km-10km winds....
i DONT handload so i will only be usin factory loads and i will NOT be using it for ANYTHING larger than coyotes.

I know very little, but here is my .02 cents... I own a 243, and i don't think a load is going to make that gun leave much smaller of a exit hole. The 243 will go in and out. I shot a deer this year with it, and it when in and out at 100 yards. I would buy a 22-250 if you are only hunting coyotes and other predators i wouldn't buy a 243 ... i hunt just about everything with mine. Even shot a grouse in the head from 30 yard this year.... good eatin!!!
hope this helps a little, there are much better informed people on this site than me!!!!!

I don't know a whole lot on the .243 but i shoot a 22-250 loaded with the 50g winchester ballistic silvertips. The only time i had alot of pelt damage with this one is when i shot a red fox at about 150 yds. broadside, when it went in it hit the shoulder on the other side of the body it blew a huge hole about the size of a tennis ball out that side. Besides that i have never really had any problems i shot a coyote in the back of the head at 260 yds. (all luck) and the bullet never exited. It seems to me if you can stay away from the shoulder and any of the other larger bones you should be all right, most of the time the bullets fragment on impact so you might have a few little exit holes but nothing to horrible. Hope this helps.

CH312, I shoot a .223 with 52 gr. hollow point and love it. I've shot deer with a .243 and 22-250 at less than 100 yds. and had exit damage. Both are good rounds.
Howler says he uses a 50 gr. psp in his 22-250. Look at the picture of his yote under PHOTO CONTEST, in this forum.
