i've heard a lot of mixed reports about coyote hunting. some articles i've read make it sound extremely hard since coyotes have such keen senses. and then other articles i've read make as well as stories i've heard from hunters make it sound like as long as you watch the wind and your scent, put out a rabbit decoy and start whalin on a rabbit screamer, if there are any coyotes in the area they'll come running. any insight?

Both scenarios can be correct.
I've been shed hunting andsaw a coyotein the distance and mouth-sqweeked it in to within 10 feet.
I've called coyotes with a true-talker grunt tube(mimicing a fawn bleat)while deer hunting, also to within very close range.
It is not uncommon for someone to call ina coyote while turkey hunting.
But I've had setups that were 'perfect', and been shut out. More than once, too.
When coyote hunting, I try to cover as many details as possible, you don't want to hope for the 'fluke' sightings.

It depends a lot on the area you live in. If you live in a highly populated area then obviously you have a better chance. Also if it is a younger dog that has not had a lot of pressure it makes it a lot easier. Lets put it this way, all I do is pull into a field, cut off my truck and call from inside using the window as a rest. But, I do have a lot of yotes in my area.
