Any Crow Hunters On Here?

We set up in the wood on a hill and shoot down into a cut corn field they are always in. We use .17 HMR and .22 Mags. I got a .204 Ruger i want to try out on them but i think its gonan em to loud. With the rimfies at 100 yards they dont even realize your shooting at them and stay in the field whyle your shooting there whole family. The farmers love us for it and its great target practice.

I've found that when a big flock has a sentry you either need to kill him or your setup must be perfect. We've had great luck with a piece of lightweight black material made into a flag about 18" long and 6-8" wide and attach it to the owl decoy at the talons. If theres any breeze the crows go nuts. I also put a lightweight black flag on one of those weighted decoy balls made for predator hunting. Another thing to try is one of those flea markey flapping birds or bats. (paint bthe birds black)
You can buy all of those cheaper than one mojo. I've had crows see that flag flapping under the owl and dive straight at it.I shot one 6 feet over the owls head.
One more thing. We have found that we do much better by keying in on small groups of crows. Oh, say 2-12. The bigger flocks always seem way tougher to fool. We drive around and spot them and then look for a place to set up on em.

I decoy and call them. Unfortunately, they're usually smarter than me. I'm not too good at hunting them.
Shoot the first one of those suckers that comes in!!!! You might not get second chances with them.

Thanks again for the info. keep it coming if you got it. I'll try the black rags under the owl and the flag. I have one of the decoy heart critters too, I may throw a black rag on it and give it a whirl. I'll try em one at a time, something will surely work one of these days, just gotta catch em in the right mood. This weekends setup was a bust, I saw way more Canadian geese than crows. None even gave me the first look.............next weekend. Hopefully the snow comes that'spredicted, thatought to change things up.
I hear the crows aren't too bad to eat.......crow medallions were mentioned in a recipe I saw online, sounds like a fancy treat to me.I had coon a while back, not too bad, I reckon if you cook it the right way it would probably taste just fine. I've had some folks that werepissed at me to "eat crow", so I'm assuming theydidn't likeit!

The biggest thing is to be extra careful in concealing yourself. Crows are very good at spotting anything that doenst belong! leave no detail without the proper camo and keep movement to zero till it's time to shoot
