Not true! Here in CNY and western NY - it will target the 55% of the 1 1/2 year old bucks that are 6 pt or greater. It will save only the later born and slower developing spikes and forks to become 2...

But they are counted as bucks as 1 1/2 year old at preseason.
Figure up to 1/3 of the "does you see are BB.
That means even if all the 1 1/2 and older...

So you want AR plus a "maturity" restriction or a hunter would not be allowed to hunt?
AND you want to add "earn a buck"? What if you where one of the 1000's of hunter's that did not get a doe tag?...

I am not equating an 8 pt is only a 2 1/2 old deer - in fact, here an 8 pt is anywhere from 1 1/2 on up.

This means your stance of only shooting mature deer and we should have mandatory AR are...

I agree - I think many are afraid of a penalty that either isn't there or isn't enforced.
Therefore they don't report at all - weak excuse, but easy to eliminate as you suggested by a mandatory...

Healthy and naturally occurring are 2 different things.
As Sylvan pointed out, no case I know off has been made that the current "hunted" age structure make deer unhealthy - especially statewide...
