RE: Which Gun

It would be a real hard choice between my Win 70 Classic 30-06 and Win 70 F/W .308. I guess if it came down to it I' d go with the F/W (ssshhhh - don' t let my ' 06 here about though or she' ll never...

RE: .270 vs 7mm-08 one last question

Don' t know why the gun dealer would push you away from the 7mm-08 rifle unless it was a little cheaper than the others and he' s getting a commission. Anyway both the 270 and the 7mm-08 are good...

RE: 7mm wsm or 30-06 for deer

I' d have to say the 30-06 without a doubt. Ammo' s cheaper and easier to find if you don' t reload, and if you do the .308 bullet has far more options

RE: Hunters, which mistakes have cost you a shot at game?

I must admit to making my great fair share of OOPS' and UH OHS over the years.

Here' s some of my better ones:

Had a rather nice size buck walk within 25 yards of me once while I squated...

RE: Clean barrel or Dirty

When at the range I clean every 5 to 10 rounds. Once I finish brushing and patching I run two tight fitting patches with Gun Scrubber through the barrel to remove the oil and residue left by the...

RE: Best Scope in the $100-$200 range?

Try Leupold VX-I or Leupold Hunter - both should fit in your price range.

RE: Gun Cleaning Solvents

There are lots of good solvents on the market. Some old some new. Personally I use Hoppes Benchrest and Hoppes No. 9. I use Rem oil as a regular lub and RIG for long storage.

RE: Reloaded .45-70 Ammo...Need help With Ballistics

I' ve reloaded the 45-70 for a few years both for BP competition (Sharps) and for hunting with a Marlin 1895G.

It appears from your description that you have a mixxed load, and the Bullseye...

RE: what caliber do i want?

I hunt regularly with both the .308 and the 30-06. Two things, first there is a difference between the felt recoil of a .308 and 30-06, second (oh here comes the fight) there' s never been a more...

RE: Best caliber for lever action Whitetail rifle?

If you' re looking for a good lever calibre - go with the 30-30, it' s responsible probably for more deer on the table than any other cartridge in history. If you want more power go with the Marlin...
