RE: going to the grave yard?

The 7mm RM will probable be around for a long while. Now, after saying that, I am a very disappointed 7mm RUM owner. When I purchased my model 700 7mm RUM, you could get 140, 160 and 175 gn loads...

RE: Want an old Dept. Store Rifle.

I have a (Wards) Westernfield lever action 30-30 purchased in 1970. The rifle shoots great, and is currently still in use today for deer hunting.

RE: .338 Win Mag or 7mm Ultra Mag

Bring them both, never know when you need a backup. I would use the 7mm RUM with 160gr Nosler Partitions. Gives you more range then the 338.

RE: Are we overgunned? Was Jack O'Connor right?

Hey, after reading all the replies, I guess we should all be hunting Deer/Elk/Bears with a 30-30. What I'm hearing is bullet placement, and construction is whats important not how flat, or how much...

RE: 7mm ultra mag or 338 win mag

Bear,
the 7mm RUM will shoot flatter, and have more energy than the .338 past 100yds. If you shoot 250gr bullets from the .338, the energy evens out past 200yards.

RE: new 7mm ultra mag

I had the same question a while back but decided to go with the 7RUM. I think Remington will offer more factory choices with premium bullets, and weights. I don't reload, so I felt the 7RUM will be...

RE: 30.06, .270 or 7mm

Go with the 7mm-08. Less recoil than the 06, more power than the .270. If you have future plans to hunt larger game, and can only buy one gun, go with the 7mm Mag. I currently us a Remington model 7...

RE: What about .308?

Go with the 7mm-08, it will do everything the .308 will with less recoil. I have used the 140 gr. NBT with excellent results on deer.

RE: Gun Advise

If you're speaking about the 7mm Rem Mag, it will be flatter shooting, and more energy than the 06. Good choice if you think your shots will be out to 300 yds or so....

RE: What's a quality low priced scope?

I think you're better off waiting and save up to get a Leupold VX-I, or VX-II. If you look around, or even check "www.forthehunt.com" web site, you should be able to find a leupold VX-I under...
