I never used a Vortex but buckmaster and monarch are both good scopes, i always suggest 3-9x40 that'll get you out 300+yds is lighted and cost less, most hunters never shoot a deer over 150yds.

Nikon buckmaster or prostaff 3-9x40 they have lifetime warranty. Bushnell Elite 3200 or 4200 3-9x40 is also a good choice

A 4x32 would probably work best for your 30/30. I prefer nikon scopes clear vision and lifetime warranty. 3-9x40 is too much scope and waste of $$$
