What and where are you hunting? There's a lot that goes into deciding on a scope. Nikon buckmaster, Bushnell Elite and Burris fullfield II are all in that price range and are good scopes. Your terrain, light conditions, distances and type game all will effect this decision.

Look for a bushnell elite 3200 or a burris Fulfield II. i have both and the glass is clear and they have no problem with recoil. I picked both up new and for about $160 each, look around and you will find a good deal.

I'm in the process of choosing two scopes, one for an 06 and the other for a .300 WSM. I was very interested in the Muellers, but noticed that in the fine print it said not for larger calibers so I emailed them and asked which of their scopes could handle .30 caliber and up and the only choice is the Tac ll. This was not the one I wanted so that rulled out the Muellers. Two friends of mine have .30 calibers with Burris on them and are totally satisfied and both scopes sold for under $250. Also check out Vortex---

Check out SWFA at riflescopes.com (maybe it is swfa.com)
X2 on the VX-II...great scope and Leupold will take care of it for life...as if they will need to. I got my last one on ebay for $270 with shipping brand new. That's just $20 over what you want to spend...$20 well spent if you ask me.

Hate to say it but my FFII's are as good or better glass than my VX-II Leupys, plus the Burris Ballistic Plex is one of the better BDC reticles on the market in my opinion.
Hard not to like that....and for around $130nib they can't be matched.
