30-06 primers
#1
I am loading some 30-06 rounds and the Hornady reloading book calls for #210 primers. I have about 50 of them I can use, but I want to load about 100 rounds. I have plenty of #200 primers of another brand that I can use, but I am wondering will using the differnet primers work? Will it affect the performance? And if it will work, should I do them all with the #200s, or some the them with #210s and the rest with #200s, or go out and buy some more #210 primers and don't use the #200s at all.

Changing primers can and often will cause changes in the load characteristics. The best thing you can do is buy more of what you developed that load with, and keep everything the same. If you wish to try another primer with that load, I would advise you to start over and see how it works. There may be no change at all, or there may be a change that would have caused problems if you had simply substituted as you asked about. Be safe........

Yeah, from what I understand, using different primers can cause the powder to flash off faster than the load is intended for, thus causing too high of pressures. Its probably best to stick with what was recomended.

Well, this is the very first thing I should have told you...Have you even compared the two primers? That should give you your answer. Check it out.

Thanks, do you know if the 200s will work well, even though the books says to use 210s?

However, swapping brands may very well adversely affectthe accuracy of a given load that you worked up with the other make.
