Thanks for making my point. The best pic you could come up with might MIGHT have a whole 5 inches more antler than the one in the previous photo. Oh and dads 9 point dink was probably a wee bit better. Sorry if i put all those dink deer in the same box.

"Sorry if i put all those dink deer in the same box. "

Not done jag. But you didnt "put them in the same box". It was said by you your pappys "monster" was an unheard of "prize winning" champion! LOL

and another dil-hole spoke up and said there werent no deer in the 70's only a handful of spikes.

I guess I didnt expect an apology. But dont really want one from a complete lying fraud.

and the SMALLEST runt I posted so far was more than 5" bigger than that dink in the pic posted previously. (LOL) And also we arent talking ONE year, we are talking just about EVERY year. Same deal for my grandfather and a couple of uncles...Nearly every year. Sure they took some y's and spikes in between....

BTw, the last was I believe 73. Quit distracting me. (LOL)

"Tell Dad that Mathews bow with parallel limb design was not made before AR. I owna Mathews..Is there something you need to tell us. ? "

Yes. That pic is NOT pre-ar. And I never claimed it was.But it was the only one of thoseI postedthat isnt. Only reason I posted it was to show even though hes gettin' older, dad is still knockin' them down after showing some of his 60's -70's pics. That pic was last year. It also isnt a matthews. Its a diamond black ice. I dont think you can doubt the others....LOL. The 70's fashions are a bit unmistakable!(LOL) And the one pic I have from the 90's you can clearly see the old outdated long overdraw on my bow. (LOL)

Convincer livbucks? Convince of what? Only thing I was challenged on was that you said there were nothing but spikes and forkies and noone was killing deer in this area in the 70's, and they certainly werent as large as the GIANT (LOL) that rsb posted.. I think Ive more than proven that incorrect. The rest of my pics are just bonuses for you to look at. (LOL)

Thats but a few of our bucks..Btw, plenty of turkey, other coyotes and fox from calling. Trapping? Plenty of beaver, mink muskrat fox coon coyote pics...

The rediculous challenges and condescending attitudesget old when clowns have no idea who the hell they are talking to...Just because a man chooses to point out what liars pgc are and dont support the failed deer plan.;)

Your friend BTB madehimself look like the fool he is, be careful before you make the same mistake. I'm waiting to see the pictures of BTB's spike bucks before AR, thinking he's proving that only spikes existed before.

What do you think of those pre-AR dinks.

I don’t know what point you were trying to make by posting those best rifle harvest buck scores but you probably missed your target.

I have take the liberty of breaking them down to time periods and then averaged the number of inches per buck for each time period. Here is the data for the 39 bucks that had a known year of harvest.

Time period………………….number of entries……………………..average inches of antler
Prior to 1931.……………………….4.…………… ………………...........173.2
1931-1940.………………………….7.………… …………………...........177.3
1941-1950.…………………………12.………… …………………..........172.6
1951-1960.………………………….6.………… …………………...........172.2
1961-1970.………………………….0.………… ………………….............N/A
1971-1980.………………………….3.………… …………………...........176.0

1991-2000.………………………….1.………… …………………...........172.6
2001-present………………………..3.………… …………………............172.2

All of the ones since 2001 were harvested after antler restrictions. How many more do you think will be entered in that since 2001 column over the next few years?

Thanks for showng that AR's are improving the bucks.

This list goes back 89 years with the average year for a non AR buck being 59 years ago. None of the top 10 came after 1974. Before AR's our best bucks had definitely gone downhill. There is one lone entry from the 90's Only three from the 80's and three from the 70's and zero from the 60's. From the 50's on back the quality was better but guess what? we had far less deer then!

It looks like our buck quality had definitely bottomed out before AR's. The next time this list gets published it will be interesting indeed:D

Shame on you R.S.B! How did you miss the other significant info posted by BB? It clearly shows total support for the present day deer management plan. Particularly from 1931 to 1950.I'm pretty sure our deer herd was smaller then. Ah!, less deer, more food, better quality deer. Just like today![/align]

The numbers of top end bucks were decreasing prior to AR.
How low would it have gone?
Seems like AR has returned us to a time comparable to the best big buck years.

Man, the dead horses are gonna be running for cover tonight;)

1991-2000.………………………….1.………… …………………...........172.6
2001-present………………………..3.………… …………………............172.2
Which number is bigger 172.6 or 172.2? Try again!!!
Really desperate! usingone deer for one period and a three deer average for another period to demonstrate a difference of .4 inches proves nothing either way

Shame on you R.S.B! How did you miss the other significant info posted by BB? It clearly shows total support for the present day deer management plan. Particularly from 1931 to 1950.I'm pretty sure our deer herd was smaller then. Ah!, less deer, more food, better quality deer. Just like today!
Obviously you don't know squat about the history of our herd. The deer densities were much higher during that period than they are today.

Whatis obvious that don’t know squat about the history of the deer or the habitat that supported thosedeer in the northern tier back in those better years.

Much of the habitat across the northern was still in the seedling sapling stage into the mid 1940s. The same as the deer numbers and harvests in those northern tier areas didn’t start to decline until the habitat declined.

You can also see how the antler quality started to decline after the habitat declined. By the end of the 1950 both deer numbers and antler quality were headed into a major slump.

It appears both are finally starting to improve after nearly half a century of trying to carry way too many deer. Even the deer are proving that point and proving just how wrong you are.

....There is plenty more. I think you get the point though.;)
I get the point. I dont think you got it though. I sawone buck that barely goes beyond the term basket rack and one decentbuck if it were stacked up against todays bucks.

Just wondering why they're all blurred and the hunter has been cut out of each pic. Who do they really belong to?If wesaw the faces, how many different ones would there be? Hunters did it take for you to put together that basket collection?Considering where you claim you hunt, thats actually a pretty weak collection from the 2A neighborhood.

""I get the point. I dont think you got it though. I sawone buck that barely goes beyond the term basket rack and one decentbuck if it were stacked up against todays bucks. ""

The point was, you were wrong. That pic wasnt posted to show a monster, in fact, I said so ahead of time.

""Just wondering why they're all blurred and the hunter has been cut out of each pic.""

because they were cropped.

"Who do they really belong to?"

LOL would you know either me or my dad if you saw us?? So does it matter? LOL

""If wesaw the faces, how many different ones would there be?""

2....and thats FAR from all the pics with those 2 faces.;) And even though its a small fraction of our harvests...Its probably more than youve taken in your life! (LOL)(LOL) IVe seen one decent buck youve taken in paand one very average. And you hunt the verybest wmu in the state, yet thats all you can muster.[8D]

"Hunters did it take for you to put together that basket collection?Considering where you claim you hunt, thats actually a pretty weak collection from the 2A neighborhood. "

The herd wasnt much in the 70's. Apparently dad did a better job than yours did throught the 70's, since his "prize winner" was the size of the runt rsb pictured, and others said there was nothing around but spikes and forkies.

2A sucks, highly overrated. As does the rest of the state suck generally speaking. The more current pics of MINEare all better than average bucks for the area, and certainly for Pa bucks. And its currently worse now than in the last 20 years. Btw, those are ALL taken from land open to the public.I also dont hunt in Allegheny area, something which apparently hasnt helped YOU much! (LOL)I think youve made yourself look like a big enough az for one night dont you? (LOL)

I give him credit Bob. Those are some great bucks for the time period they were taken. I also wonder about the blur.
I knew of a guy [dead now]that owned a lot of posted ground and shot bucks like them out of the upstairs bathroom window for decades.
I don't think anybody denied that there were 2-1/2 year old bucks back then. Private property has always played a role.
The big bucks were where you found them.

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)

The blurriness is because they are pictures of pictures, and some you can tell I didnt even take out of the album because the pages stuck.. And I wasnt about to sit here all day to get them perfect retaking them, then putting them online, then putting them on herejust for BTB to eat his words.

But after these statements by him, it was worth it! (LOL)

"Yep, My dad shot a 9 pointer that looked very much like the buck on the left in this pic in the early 70's and won a huge buck pool with it"

A ten inch wide buck rsb had pictured! (LOL)

Then he went on to say: "Betcha we'll never see any of those buck pics".

So you certainly did bat 1000 tonight didnt ya btb LMAO! (LOL):D

Liv, every one of those bucks, including the ones in the 70s were taken on open to the public grounds. The 70's pics were all from the Fayette & Somerset mountain public lands.
