Some nice bucks (pic)
Guess where this nice gang of bucks came from?

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
I don't have high speed and only a small portion of the picture showed, with you saying bucks, I'll assume there is more than one.
I'll take a stab at this question. They were shot in WMU 2g, there were 11 bucks and 34 doe running in a herd, with the larger bucks being in the middle of the group, therefore the smaller ones were shot. There were no other hunters in the woods to move these deer, but they were chased by a pack of Fishers. Behind the Fisher was a family of Bobcats, who in turn were chased by a pack of coyotes. The coyotes were being pursued by two mountain lions, with RSB running behind them saying, "but they aren't a breeding pair". Moral of this story, if you only post half a picture, you get a half arsed answer. |
RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
They must have been all ties to the same tree!

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)

I zoomed up the photo in my Corel program and changed the brightness. To the right of the truck looks like Mt. Laurel. This still covers a few WMU's. I have to say 2d.

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
Actually guys, these are all bucks that were harvested this past season in PA in 2G
![]() The photo is from a taxidermist in Pennfield sent to me by a friend who always manages to find deer up there himself:D |
RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
I noticed a certain someone logged off as soon as you said 2G.

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
The one tag that you can see on the bucks left beam seems to be a little wide to be a Pa. tag. If they are Pa. bucks Ill take a stab at it they came from douges Treasure Lake.:)
|
RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
What kinda tag is that on that bucks left beam.?
|
RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
What's the name of the hunting club where these fine bucks were taken?

I think Doug tried to send that pic to me some time ago but I never got it. Those are without a doubt some nice buck.
But how significant is that truck load of bucks? What percentage of the bucks harvested in 2G had racks anywhere close to those buck? Are those buck as much the result of the bad weather on the 2007 opening day as they are due to ARs? Did the snow cover in 2008 account for the harvest of a much higher percentage of older buck? Some of those questions may be answered in march when the pGC releases the harvest data. |

Here we go again ! BTB,you still like to stir up ****. Sorry, but I don't think a picture like that is going to change anybody's opinion on AR.

I will venture an OPINION though. 2007's horrible weather probably saved some bucks that aged another year and this years (2008) great conditions probably helped bump the harvest to a better than average number including some of those leftover bucks from last year. It is interesting though how you claimed that the horrible weather of 2007 was not significant but now the great conditions for 2008 somehow are significant. can't have it both ways sport! |

ORIGINAL: R2D2 ORIGINAL: BTBowhunter ORIGINAL: hatchet jack PA! Hatchet Jack Yup! PA alright!! Now which WMU??? Three posts in two days and all three are incoherent, borderline illiterate and inflamatory. Nice way to start out here. Or should I say welcome back Pedro? I do not have a sworn notarized affadavit from the sender but I've never known him to lieor make up stories.Istated in the first post that this was sent to me. I did concede that this is secondhand information. If you have genuine verifiable information about the photo, bring it on. Without it, you become a liar by calling me one. So put up or shut up. |
RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
For those questioning the tags, I believe the tags on the antlersappear to be the taxidermists orprocessors tags. I know that it is a common practice among taxidermists and processors to attach their own tags. I can only spot one tag that appears to be a PA tag in the ear.

It's a shame how a topic that someone shared a nice photo and wanted everyone to have a little fun. Once again became target of insults, creditability and twisted versions as to why it was posted.

RE: Some nice bucks (pic)
That is the first I have seen that picture so I don’t have any specific information about the bucks in the back of the truck at that time. But, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to find out that they were all from unit 2G. When I was at that shop a few weeks ago he already had close to four hundred bucks in more still trickling in every day. That taxidermist told me that the best buck he had in his shop from 2008 came out of unit 2G though the rack wasn’t there at the time, as many hunters take the antlers with them to show to friend or have them scored until the taxidermist calls and needs them back to mount on the head. I took a few pictures while I was there of the rows of racks hanging in the shop. There two rooms filled with racks hanging from the ceiling so I took a picture of each room. This taxidermist gets most of his work from units 2G, 2F, 2D and 2E though there will be a few from other parts of the state as well. And now the pictures: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s141/RBODENHORN/099.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s141/RBODENHORN/100.jpg A couple that had just come in that day: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s141/RBODENHORN/101.jpg Sometime later this year I will have the number of bucks, the average points and spread of the bucks plus the ages from most of the bucks in his shop. Sometime later this year I will have the number of bucks, the average points and spread of the bucks plus the ages from most of the bucks in his shop. When will the PGC provide the data that get from their annual survey of deer processors? If the data supported what you are reporting it would be trumpeted as a huge success of ARs. |

I don’t know when any particular data might be released. But, antler restrictions are already known to be a success in most areas of the state and have ever increasing hunter support. Some still don’t like them, but independently done surveys, conducted by professional poll takers, proved the disgruntled are in the minority. That seems to match what I hear in the field when talking with hunters, too. I almost never hear anything negative about the antler restrictions even from hunters complaining about not enough deer.
