read a little slower skippy! I said plenty of bucks in 2F. I didn't say plenty ofbig bucks. A big buck like that is an exception in that area. 100+ inch bucks are plentiful though. I do understand how it could be hard for you to believe though.

I can't believe what I'm reading here, two alpha hunter have hunted bow season and now this far into rifle season, yet they haven't found a buck stuck in a fence, I mean mastered harvesting those big ten point bucks. Yet they allow some one or two day hunter to harvest a nice buck over the hill. Perhaps they are listening too much to the PGC, that is hunting deeper in the woods, while the big buck was probably harvested 200 yards from the cabins.

Where is BB, time to rattle their chains again.

If anyone is interested, I heard Carl Roe bagged limits of squirrels on three separate occasions this fall. I'd say the hunting is fantastic, based on his incredible successes afield this year.

I think the buck hunting in PA is better'n ever.
I saw a ton of 1.5 year olds this year.
Next year is gonna be killer.

I have actually forgone hunting this gun season except for the first two days at camp. I will pick back up after Christmas with bow and flintlock in search of a nice buck. I actually prefer to woods to myself as I like to stillhunt quite a bit if conditions are right.

Ass is not profanity. It is an age-old term for someone withunique characteristics that resemble a certain member of the Equine family, not a body part. That is why there is no filter for it.

Bob...thanks for the support as always. I have a feeling you will nail another mossyhorn this coming late season, Good luck. I know you will enjoy the woods time regardless of a kill, as I will.

what county are you hunting in that you are seeing lots of bucks?

2D, livbuks is right. Bunch of youngsters this year.

Nope, wasn't.
I had the full oversight and direction and approval of the State official in charge of the scene of incident. Spin all you want, you are making a great ass out of yourself.
There was a proper legal, way to handle the situation, but you chose to use your tag to save $100. Just because the WCO did you a favor doesn't make it legal or you great sportsman.

I hunted public state forest property on the first day of rifle season and on the first saturday.I saw a buck on the first day at 30 yardsthat I would have mounted. This past saturday I saw another legal buck in the same area that was traveling with a bunch of does.I killed one of the does. All told,on two of the heaviest hunted days in the season,I saw three hunters in the woods and almost no shooting.I wouldn't mind seeing some more hunters to get the deer moving but there's nothing wrong with the overall hunting season.

The lack of hunting pressure is a direct result of Alt's desire to over harvest the doe. I said from the beginning that the PGC had a responsibility to manage the hunters as well as the deer and they mismanaged both. Now we will more than likely repeat the same cycle we did in the past where after significant herd reduction the herd rebounded to higher numbers than we had before , but this time there will be a lot less hunters to control the herd.

HMMMMM, lets envision it for a moment...

Some of the one day warriors retire from the pumpkin army. Once The habitat has had a chance to recover, the herd numbers rebound, an older average age class of bucks in the herd.

So, where's the down side?

The problem is the habitat is not going to recover to any significant degree because around 80% of our forests will still be in the pole and saw timber stage ,where shading is the major factor limiting habitat recovery and browse production. The PGC wants to manage the herd at the ecological or biodiversity of the habitat rather than on the nutritional carrying capacity and that is a major problem for hunters.
