NOTHING wrong WITH HARVESTING A mature doe,IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY in area.
but thats not case in WMU2G here in clinton/cameron/potter counties.
i had 3 doe on publicland ,i would say in a 4 or 5 mile area sq.how do i know, i hunt and walk year round.
i know more than most hunters what is in areas in wmu2g.
why, because i am out there 4 times a week, AT LEAST.
NOW, AT NOON ON TUESDAY, A FATHER /SON SHOT THE MOTHER AND HER FAWN.
i think the other doe was shot this week also.
now you can see why i am trying to protect those doe/fawn.
hunters today will shoot a fawn, they dont care.
they dont have any idea what is left in area to hunt or do they care.
they ride around ,find doe and shoot it.
its legal but is it hurting the future hunting for that kid that shot fawn.
YES.most likely he will stop hunting or just continue to kill a FAWN.
my dad would not let us shoot a fawn at 12 yrs old.
today, its BROWN ITS DOWN, FAVORITE SAYING AT HIGH SCHOOL.
i killed my share of doe.
but it was when we had at least 20 doe in that 4 mile area, but we would only kill MATURE DOE.I HAVE NOT KILLED DOE IN 13 YEARS HERE IN CLINTON/POTTER/CAMERON.
i have friends that are still out trying to fill their 1 doe tag and 2 DMAP tags here in clinton county.
they also have 1 doe tag and 2 DMAP tags for their 3 kids.
do they fill them, YOU BET.
THEY HUNT EVERYDAY INCLUDING THE WEEK OF OCT MUZZLELOADER.
so,thats 12 doe to 1 family,think about that one.
last year they had 6 DMAP PERMITS,so they could get 21 doe per family.do you think WMU2G can handle all those permits when doe are very little left.its NUTS and we cant stop it.
then you see other hunters that dont even see a deer..
it should be 1 deer and your done in WMU2G.
does anyone really care tho?NO.

i just heard i lost doe and her fawn on wednesday.
hunters said it was father and his son stopped and shot them.
as for someone saying i dont get off porch to hunt, you dont know me.
wmu2g is not very good deer hunting.
overharvest of doe is reason.
for your info, if there were lots of doe, they would not be risking getting in trouble shooting on privateland here in wmu 2g.
next year i am going to have to spend money and put up a wire fence near road.

Both of those are your quotes from this thread. Now which is it? Were these deer shot on public or private land?
The trouble with making up stories is that pesky little detail of remembering what you said last

2 different situations.
1 was my land other was publicland.
actually i left out the other son that shot at that 3 rd doe on publicland because from what i was told, he missed.there was 2 doe and fawn that came out on pipeline daily to eat.
but i believe they got that doe this week because i found blood and hair at parking lot .
i lost more than that doe/fawn to POACHING AND ROAD HUNTING on my privateland, this has been reported to PGC.
PGChas set up the robo doe and caught 7 , i believe.
1 guy shot deer 2 times ,in 2 days.
i have 10 sweaters hanging out now in field to try to keep doe back in a little in woods on my land.i also now have gate on road that i left open ,its now closed..
so, hopefully i can get thru this season without more doe shot, then i am putting up 5 strands of wire..

so what your saying is the DEC might have givin out too many doe permits in the last few years? because shooting does was the way to control herd growth in areas over run by deer. you might have a valid point, but as far as the legallity of preventing other hunters from filling their tags i dont know?

a camp in clinton county has 17 members.they know area well, been at it for 50 years.
they hunt in DMAP areas that were flew over and showed very few deer.
they drove over 10 miles of steep side hills in youngwomans creek for a week.
this is place the DCNR says LOTS OF DEER.
well, they got 1 doe for 1 week of hunting, they all had doe permits and DMAP permits.
now you know why i am TRYING to save a doe on my land ..
i cant believe hunters have come to point that they wiped doe out here in clinton/cameron/potter countys..
my shirt idea i think is working, we were out on land and very few of deer are coming close to my stinky shirts, they are staying back in woods on my land away from dirt road.
