Wisconsin Hunters

RE: Wisconsin Hunters
Not too bad. Gun season was warm of course, but I still maintain that the population wasn't as high in unit 61 as the DNR tried to tell us. Saw bucks chasing does the first week of November, but nothing big enough (we practice QDM) to shoot came in close. Not even a nice doe! Of course, nubbins being the dumbest creatures in the woods, I had several of them within 10 yards!

The area I hunted was excellent. I hunt unit 2 in northwestern WI.
Saw deer every day, took a respectible buck in gun season that I had been watching for a while and passed on lots of smaller animals during the unseasonably warm bow season.
Just stopped hunting two days ago. Passed up several does and was still seeing bucks but out of bow range. This last month I've been hunting area 77m in the the southeastern corner of the state. It has a spiecal late bow season that runs to the end of this month

TJD, I hunt in unit 61 also, we managed to shoot 4 does gun hunting/muzzleloader. Bowhunting we shot 2 nice bucks. My old mans weighed in at 246lbs. field dressed, mine weighed 205lbs.
Over the entire season I was fairly happy. We seen a lot of deer and more bucks than in the past. I am really anticipating next season, I figure that 2-3 3-year olds made it through.
