I'm interested in the Simmons Aetec 2.8-10 x 44mm or the Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 x 40mm. I know the Bushnell stand up to it's name but what about the Simmons? I like the size of the objective lens on the Simmon and the 2.8-10 power but what about the quality... I would be mounting the scope on my 308 Rem.Semi-Auto 742 Woodmaster so I don't think the recoil would be a problem. Would anyone have any information for me on the Simmons or should I just buy the Bushnell ???

Trailer I own both of the scopes you just mentioned and have never had any trouble with either one,and I don't see that much difference in the clarity ,the biggest difference is in the price . The simmons was quite a bit less . I just bought a Bushnell 3200 3x9x50 ff for $200.00 and have to buy something to put it on . My Aztec is on a 300 win mag so I doubt the 30-06 will hurt it .

Either will probably be fine, I know people who own both and are equally satisfied. I have 2 elites both 50 mm objectives(3200 & 4200). I say go with the bigger objective 44 or 50, although the elites baseball bat design is a little bulky and not the prettiest, i can attest though it does make a difference and IMO worth the extra $. Have you considered or looked at Burris? I just put a Burris Signature Series on my 7 rem mag and love it. I also own a Vari x iii by leupold and the burris scope isn't lacking anything to the loopy IMO. You may want to check out the Fullfield II by Burris, i am not sure how much they run though. They are a real nice looking scope, light and with a 44 or 50 mm objective available that is relatively short in length, which i am guessing you want on your rifle. (BTW I have the 3200 in a 50 MM on a 7600 Pump, it does look a little top heavy but works just fine)

Skeeter, They don't sell Burris scopes around here. I had to look up Burris scope at Cabela's for more information and the price was a little more then I wanted to spend. I ended up with the Simmons.
Halcon,I just received my 3x9x50mm European Leupold about a week ago for my new rifle. Good luck rifle hunting. Thanks guys for the info.

I would recommend the Bushnell Elite. Simmons is a great scope for the money, but the warranty part would worry me a little. Bushnell stands behind there products. I just have hear some bad stories with Simmons on warranty work.

I also own one of each, and both are about 20 years old. Both have taken more than their share of abuse (drops, dents, temperature changes) and both are just as clear as the day I installed them and neither one has ever had the X-hairs move. Both excellent scopes for the money. I figure if either one of them goes bonkers now, I' ve definitely got my moneys worth out of them.
