Armalite has come out with an upper chambered in .300 SAUM that will slap on to their AR-10 (T) model, just wondered if any of you had anything to say about this caliber, do you think it will be around for a while? There are so many different or hybrid rounds out there, don't know who will have the staying power. The .300 SAUM from Remington is a pretty slick round that would be a real hoot to shoot in the AR format. Just asking for a little feedback on those who have shot the round or the AR setup for that matter.

From the way things are looking right now, it would appear that the WSM line of short magnums has a brighter future than the SAUM's. I'm not sure why Armalite didn't go with the WSM - maybe some subtle feeding issue with the AR-10 platform?

I think the only thing keeping the Remington versions going is the fact that its chambered in the Model Seven which is a great match up and is what the SM's shoulld be all about. In an artical by Jim Zumbo he says the Model Seven in the 300 Remington SM is the best elk rifle going. I think he has a point. Its a short light easy to carry rifle which should serve elk hunters well. The updated Model 94.
