From what I've seen and heard of the SAUM's and WSM's, you're not getting anything that another standard round or another pre-existing mag wasn't giving you, and you're paying a lot more. Especially with the 7mm SAUM's and WSM's, there are umpteen 7mm mags out there already, and I've yet to see the SAUM or WSM out-perform most of them, let alone all of them. I guess if you want to spend the money...

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!

OLDTIMER...

congrats on the groupings of the SAUM's. have you taken it hunting yet?
i would buy one cause i like a short action over a long action. but.i also look at it just like anything else. a chance to talk the woman into letting me get a new one.
how is the kick?

Hunting report in first post. My 30-06 has more felt recoil than this SUM. Very pleasant to shoot at the range. As for the extra cost, ammo is the cheapest part of any hunt. It's really no more than any good ammo. As for outperforming other magnums, who cares. The results on this deer season was awsome.I love this rifle,Model 7/SS,compact,nice to look at,and it does the job. Besides it's what I wanted. There's always room for one more.

Couldn't agree more Oldtimer, if its what you want thats plenty good enough reason for me to have one. I have been looking hard at the 7MM SAUM and the 7MM WSM trying to decide which one I'm going to go with and what rifles they are going to be available in. I saw a 7MM SAUM in the Ruger M77 All Weather and really liked it, haven't seen one in a Model 7 yet. Does anyone know if the 7MM SAUM is going to be available in a stainless steel 700 BDL?
