Need opinions for an H&R/NEF Handi-Rifle
Hey yall. I have recently gotten interested in the Handi-Rifle. It looks light, handy, and very reliable.
If I get one I would like to get a standard Handi-Rifle in 30-30 with iron-sights. Does anyone
have any opinions on how accurate or anything on th Handi-Rifle? Also, could it be used for home-defense if needed?
Thanks and God Bless

From all the owners I know, good Handis, including mine are accurate. But, from a factory that produce sub-$200 rifles, you can expect some inconsistancy and the occasional lemon. It's not a frequent thing, but it happens.
Also, many folks opt for a trigger job. NEF triggers are usually stiffer than advertised.
There is tremendous NEF/H&R support on www.graybeardoutdoors.com as well.
All in all, I say buy one. Try to find a used one if you want. They should be out there for under $125.

I bought my buffalo classic with Lyman peep sights for $191 last year . Its a great shooter . The only caliber I wouldn't buy is the 38-55 that they made .

I had a handi rifle in 30-06 and loved it, wish i hadnt sold it. Now i desperatly want another, possible in .280 or 7mm/08. They are great little guns for the money, they are light easy to manuver and come up great. Mine felt so good in my hands, and felt like an extension of my arm. You can get good accuracy out of them with a good scope. I paid 150 dollars for mine and had it for about 4 years putting like 20 or more boxes of shells through it and sold it for 125, so i didnt get hurt on the deal. Try one you wont be disatisfied. I know i will have another.

Between me and my friends we own/have owed many of these rifles and all have been excellent guns for the $ I curently have one in .22 which I gave 90.00 and that was with 4X scope and I also have one in .243 which came with 3.5X 10 , sling , and 2 boxes of shells for 175.00 both were used and in good to excellent condition. I love these rifles and the good to start new/young shooters on.
