Ward83, I think you have made a good choice. Consider going with the stainless model as it will be much more resistant to rust and other nastiness. Keep your action clean and the 10/22 will be very reliable. I love mine, but if I was going to change anything the first thing I would spend money on would be to improve the trigger. It is the weakest point of the gun to my way of thinking. I would do this before I got a better barrel or a fancier stock. Those Fajen stocks are pretty though. Good luck!

never had a fajen stock, but if your'e not in a hury, you can get ahole odf 10/22's cheaper at shows and gunsmiths, but definitely 10/22 is about the best 22 you can get and you can close in on anshultz accuracy with enough aftermarket parts. I like ruger as a company from a junior year engineer's standpoint, and i will say i think the 10/22 is the best desigh ever to come out of southport CT.

I have a Remington model 597 stainless/laminate. With CCI Stinger's this rifle will group 5 shots under 1-2". I have never had any malfunctions with my rifle.

Judging by the 597 and 710, ALL remingtons are off of my "to buy" list!

I have never owned a rifle from Big Green, but I have an 11-87 and an 870 and they are fine shotguns. Maybe not like a Benelli or a Belgium made Browning, but they dont cost the same either. And I know an awful lot of guys who swear by their 700's. Maybe they just dont do auto rifles so well.
