Dad gone people. Your ruining my pitch.

BC sorry about that.Really the 7400 are the best rifles made today. I wouldn't own anything but one.You can find one and don't buy it you're foolish.

There BC I hope that helped you sell yours.LOL.

I have the model 4 wich is somewhere bettween the 742 and the 7400. I use lock washers on the forarm screws and shoot a consistant 1.2" groups. Keep the chamber clean it wont jam. It will shoot my reloaded 130 sp at 3100fps and my 180 gr but not the 220 gr bullets. I have had no jam with any factory ammo. I don't know what all the fuss is. Like I said just keep it clean.

Vapordog, absolutely does shoot under 6" at 100yards. I will guarantee it shoots 3" with remington 130gr coreloks. And with 2" with Federal 130gr Sierra Premiums. And with 54gr of IMR4350 with a 210 primer and 130gr Sierra Gameking, I guarantee 1.5" groups.

I have had two of these 742 and 7400, and none really have an accuracy problem. None of them, that are cleaned by people who know how, have a jamming problem. Just that forearm screw that is the problem. A guy gave me a tip, to use welding tip cleaners to clean out the gas port. Works like a champ.

My uncle has had a 742 for years and has never had any problems. He worked up some handloads with 165 gr. sierra's that will shoot 1 in. groups all day long. He keeps it clean and never has had a problem with it jamming

I was going to buy one for coyote hunting. I want to get a new gun that is different than I already have. I don't like the looks of the Mini 14. I have not looked very hard at Browning. I might just end up with a Ruger No 1 just because its different and I don't own one. Thanks for everyones input.

Boy I traded my 7400 for a Weatherby custom shop gun and the guy gave me 500 in cash. Best gun ever made.
