Does anyone shoot a 7400? I am thinking about one in a 243.

There has been several topics about the Remington semi auto's. They've received the name "JamMasters" for obvious reasons.Do yourself a favor. If you insist on a semi auto rifle spend the extra money and buy a Browning BAR. You won't regret it.Look into the archives on this forum,I'm sure getting a Rem 7400 will change after reading the comments.On occassions a good one is found but they are few and far between.

ive shot 1 bear and 2 caribou in minus 20 weather with ice and snow with my 742 with not a problem . maybe its a caliber thing . mine is 308. have spent hours at the range over the years and never stripped it full down as far as cleaning. LOVE MINE!

Big Country I guess you got one of the few good ones what were made.Consider yourself Lucky.All the Remington 740's.742's and 7400's leave allot to be desired.They can't come anywhere near a BAR.I HAD two 742's.First chance I got to unload them I did and never looked back.Hope we didn't ruin your chance to sell yours.

Seriously folks. I have had this sucker for 15 years or so. Its killed maybe 30 deer. Never really let me down. But these days, I am into precision shooting. And a 7400 ain't a precision shooter. Its never jammed. And I got a nice reload for it that shoots 1.5MOA very consistently.

Here is what I can't stand. That dad gone forearm screw!! To hunt with the rifle, I have to take to the range and fire 2 or three rounds. Readjust the scope. Then don't clean, and don't take apart. If you tighten down that forearm screw, then POI will change. I have proved this to so many people that swore its the scope, its thier bases, or whatever. I loosen up the screw, and it will hit high by 4", and then tighened as much as possible, and it will hit low. And when you look at the design, its not surprising. Your changing pressure on your barrel.
