Thanks for all the input so far. I guess I'll just have to handle both and see which I like better even if that means I have to spend another $20-50 on a trigger job. Does anybody have any input on Weaver Grand Slam scopes? I'm thinking about Leupold, Nikkon, or Weaver to put on it.

man cant beleave all the slams on ruger guns cant really atest to the new ones but my old m77 is a fine gun, built in 200th year of liberty, sure the trigger isent as great as the trigger on my weatherby but has never impeaded me from taking a caribou at 220 yards eather most of this is just splitting hairs for the average hunter, but i can tell you that old ruger will be around shooting 1 1/2 groops long after im gone so take your pick but my money stayed here in the good old USofA and let me teelya thats still ware i work!

I have a ruger and have had other rugers, and all have been great shooters after getting the triger down to where I can handle it.All I have owned came with a 6lb to 8lb triger, you can get a set of springs to swap in them but have found they don't work to well getting the lbs down.Just sold one in .260 cal and it shot really well but I wanted a 24in barrel so I sold it and got the 24 in. I have one in a 77/50 that I don't use very much anymore but will not sell it because it shoots so good.I think if ruger came out with a easy adj.trigger their sales would really go up,could be wrong though.
Never had a tikka, have only seen one, been thinking of getting the T_3 in 25/06 to see how they do .Haven't made up my mind yet.the one size fits all is the only thing that I didn't like after looking at one.

Thanks for all the info guys. I just don't want to be disappointed with my new gun. I love the accuracy of my 710, I just don't care for much else about it. It's only 1yo and the blueing is coming off of the barrel, if I don't keep checking the lock lever for the bolt, the bolt comes out in my hand. I want to make sure that which ever on I choose, I won't regret it at a later date. Had I known about the 710, I wouldn't have bought it. Now I'm stuck with it because nobody'll buy the P.O.S. Remington is on my never again list! I still have a few weeks to think about it as I'm waiting on a refund check to come in.

Sorry to hear about your 710 but we tried to tell you and you didn't want to listen.

Frizz...I bought the 710 long before I had even heard of this forum...Wish I'd found this place a lot sooner. It's too bad that the gun is a POS, it is a tack driver. I'm gonna handle every one that I can find that meets my criteria, except for Rem. and see which one I like the best. Right now it's between the Tikka, Ruger, and Browning.
