I no personally of a couple winchester model 70 that were bought new that the headspace was not right. All of them where the black shadows if I remember right from Wal-Mart, the same rifles.being recalled. After shot with factory ammo the bolts would not open. They called winchester and sent them back and they said the headspace was not seat right. They got the rifle back and hasn't had a problem since. But still if they were shot in the factor as they were supposedly where, wouldn't that issue been found then.

It's interesting that you brought up the Model 70, which is my "go to" rifle of my 3 30-06s. They may only represent 20% of the total volume of the Remingtons that have been produced, but I would like you to show me stats where there have been ANY issues with them. I don't believe you can because there has been nothing but praise for that rifle over the years and many feel it's the best rifle to ever be produced due to it's looks, the three position safety feature, as well as the controlled round feed of the pre 64s. Let's just move on and I wish a happy holiday season to you and yours!

Winchester needs to update their site:
Winchester has recently admitted on its Facebook page that 2013 will see Model 70 rifles assembled in Portugal instead of South Carolina. Winchester states that the change will allow them to increase their output of Model 70 rifles to meet demand. Parts for the rifles will still be made in the U.S.A., but will be shipped to Portugal for final assembly and fitting before being shipped back to the U.S.A. for sales and distribution. SX2, SX3, and Model 101 over/under shotguns are already manufactured according to this model, so it must be more efficient than it sounds. Winchester aficionados already differentiate between pre- 1964 and post- 1964 manufactured Model 70 rifles. Will this change of final assembly point add yet another line in the sand for collectors to debate over? Only the finished product will determine if there is any significant difference in quality between the South Carolina assembled rifles built through 2012 and Portuguese assembled rifles built starting in 2013…

Now their also made in Portugal(recently started) IMO they'll close the SC plant, matter of time.

You're now stretching things more that the number our member put up, LOL! Yes, those words in bold were mine and if you think that "find" of yours on the swivels gets you out of Dodge you are really losing it! Get real and admit that we're talking about the workings of the gun and not the blasted stocks! The other member mentioned a couple head space issues and that could well be, but I have seen nothing regarding that being a problem in any numbers that would result in a recall. As you keep stating and I'll put it in my words: "Nobody is perfect!".
jerry d---Thanks for the Winchester update. I could not find anything different than what is on their website that I linked in my other post and it has no date of when it was changed last. Seeing as I will not do Facebook I just looked at their website. Thanks!

You lost this battle and just won't admit it. Now you just continue this discussion with a bunch of petty, childish posts that are a waste of everybody's time. I'm out of here for good and shouldn't even have engaged again in this useless debate with you. Everyone reading the thread with Remingtons can decide on their own and if they don't do anything they can pray it never affects them.

Marlins QC dived when they let all of their senior vets go and tried to get the Stooges at Remmy in NY to assemble a much more complicated lever action.I can,t believe that Remmy han,t recalled that crappy syn stock that has no studs but a formed in composite hole for your sling. That is a real show of crap.I know a fella that had is rifle slung over his shoulder and it broke off and the rifle hit the ground. They did send him a new stock months later but it screwed up his whole season last year.

There is/was nothing wrong with the triggers.
It was a bs story fabricated by a disgruntled employee fired for incompetence. The only way to create a failure is to intentionally misadjust the trigger beyond its tolerences. Msnbc and the disgruntled employee were caught faking a news report in order to advance gun control.

This is just probably just another of those "things I read on the internet".
