Don't sell your rifle you will just regret it later.
I would do some work on the rifle to make it more accurate. Get a new free floating barrel, bed the action, maybe a new lighterstock.
It was your first gun you will regret selling it.

Gents,
Thanks for the advice. Afterhearingyour thoughts I plan to keep it. I'm going to put a Zeiss Conquest on it and get a trigger job. I already upgraded to a fully bedded hogue stock. The barrel is free floating. I'll let you know how it turns out
Thanks

I'll have to echo 2 things...
1. keep your 06. I have also gotten rid of several guns that I later regretted.
2. if you feel the need for a new caliber, I really like my 338 Federal.
The 45-70 looks petty good too. It's gonna be one of my next calibers

I agree with a lot of these other guys, keep it. My dad always told me, "never get rid of a gun, you always want it back." Everyone I know who has sold a gun regrets it. I would definitely consider putting a good scope on it. Try a Leupold on it. Maybe that will improve accuracy.

I have a .270 Rem 700 Mountain rifle and love it, so if that's your choice I don't think you can go wrong.
You have to ask yourself if you want to part with a rifle you've had so many memories with?
Also, 1.5"-2.0" groups = A DEAD ANIMAL, no matter how you slice it!

Honestly, I'm surprised by how many of you like to .338 Federal. I didn't think it would catch on. It truely is a unique caliber. I'd beinclined to go with the .338 Win Mag due to bullet selection and versatility. The .338 win mag shoots a 180gr bullet as fast as the .300 WSM with the same trajectory for those long shots and can also deliver a 250 grain bullet with 3800 ftlbs. I'm thinking it will kick like a 3.5 inch 12ga buckshot!
