There was a guy on a hunting show that was using them that dropped an Elk in its tracks at 400 yards using a 300 Win Mag. Now if i just knew how they worked on deer.

Would be my first choice for big game at long range. I don't think they sell it as a component yet . It is the same bullet as the failsafe but with a polycarbonate tip and come slight changes to the rear partition. I used the Failsafe and it is a great bullet. Barnes stole some features of it for their MRX bullet and put the tripleshock grooves on it but it is not coated like the XP3. Barnes gets big money for the MRX and it is available in component . Federal loads it

Outdoor Life did a special hunt with them. They shot an elk with a .270 at 100 yards it dropped they showd the heart after the bullet had hit it and it was blown in half. they are supposed to expand one way at lox velocity and another at high velocity.

I have not used the XP3 bullets yet, but the box of FailSafes I have left have never let me down. They hit hard, retain close to 100% of their weight and leave some pretty awesome wound channels.

My buddy shot a caribou with one (270Win) and it dropped almost in it's tracks.

Expensive, but IMHO worth it.
