I own a Super Redhawk which I failed to clean off with a silicone impregnated cloth after handling. The handgun has formed a few needle tip sized rust pits. How do I stop and remove these pits without damaging the gun's finish? Thanks in advance.

Handloader1 take a pencil eraser and lightly rub the rusted spot.My S/S guns have been in many bad weather conditions. Been near salt water many times and never had the slightest bit of rust.I wonder what you had on your hands to form tthis rust so quickly?Except for looks those small rust spots won't hurt a thing. Well maybe your pride. Ruger Redhawk

handloader..
i bough this cloth from midway. i forgot the name but i used it on my late grandpa's model 12 shotgun. cleaned all the rust off without ruining the finish.
i think it was called " magic cloth " i have a few of them.
with steel wool get the finnest you can find sometimes it can make more scratche in the steel causing more areas to invite rust down the road. has happened to me.
