I bought one of the savage 17hmrs this spring and I love it! Finally got tired of moving my scope back and forth between it and my .270, so I put a swift 4-12x40 on it and I'm shotting quarter sized groups at 100yds. I'm gonna try it at 200+ next time I go out. Get the Savage, you'll love it!

I have the Savage with the bull blue barrel syn stock, and find it to be a great shooter. My 10 year old son was shooting it for the first time at the range last week and after getting if comfy with it was shooting the 10 or 9 ring on a regular basis at 50 yards which I thought was real good for a younster.

I do have the Basix trigger in it though, which made shooting much more accurate IMHO. Of course the gun was a little tight at first, but is quite smooth now after several sessions at the range.
