I have have a Marlin 512 I have been shooting for 10?years.It has a Leupold 3-9 on it and is very accurate.I have shot 2 deer out to 150 yards.It has a wood stock that looks like a 4x4 with a pipe on the end.Not a real pretty but a very good deer gun.

I've got a rem 1100 cantileavered barrell. and an 870 w/ slug barrell and rifled choke tube. Love them both and they each have there own special use. Ps. low powered scopes on both a variable on the 1100 and a pro-diamond on the 870 on see thru mounts.

Lapper, I use a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel to hunt deer. Personally, I prefer to use interchangeable barrels, so I can use a smoothbore for other game, like rabbits, squirrels, and eventually waterfowl and upland birds. It's very easy to swap the barrels. As far as ammo is concerned, I'm a fanatic about Remington's 2 3/4" Core-Lokt Ultra Sabots. They're 385 grains, and go 1900 fps. That's 300-500 fps faster than most others. As you know, you shoot sabots through a rifled barrel, but you shoot rifled slugs through a smoothbore. With the sabot slugs, you get better velocity, range, flatter trajectory, accuracy. I've killed two bucks this year with my Core-Lokts. I love them. The only thing is, they're a little pricey. I use open sights. Lightfield (sabot) slugs are good, but the recoil on them was just too much for me. Follow up shots were affected. The reason the recoil is different is because the Core-Lokts, as I said, use a 385 grain slug, whereas the Lightfield Hybred Exp use a 1 1/4 ounce slug. I think that's, like 546 grains. The velocity on the Core-Lokts is 1900 fps, as I said, but the velocity on the Lightfields is 1454 fps. The muzzle energy of the Lightfields is 2564 ft/lbs; the Core-Lokts are 3086. I'd also like to mention that I prefer a pump. They're workhorses. Also, racking a shotgun seems to help with timing. Anyway, that's my $0.02.

I love the Remington 870 12 ga. Kicks like a mule with a rifled barrel and sounds like a cannon but it holds it groups out to 100+ yds. I like the pump becuase it is lighter and easier on the wallet. But thats all just a matter of opinion. If you don't like a hard kicking gun then you might want to look somewhere else but if it doesn't bother you then I suggest you check this one out!
