I was finally able to get some meat for the freezer yesterday. I headed out with the 30-06 to try & fill a nuisance tag & ended up having 4 deer well within bow range. The doe I shot was at 35 yards & there was another with her at only 20 yards but she was behind some cover. Later in the morning I had 2 bucks walk by within about 25 feet or so. One was a nice 8 the the other was a small 6. How did they know I was only after antlerless deer? Why can't they ever walk by that close when I need them to?

Good luck to those of you who still have time left to hunt this season. We've still got another month here in Ohio. How about the rest of the team; anyone done for the season yet?

Jeepnut, the season in MN closed last Friday. I ended up not shooting a buck this year with a bow. The only shooter I had in range, a buck I've been chasing for two years, snuck up behind me after a rattling sequence and busted me without me ever getting a shot. I let us down this year but the one blessing maybe that with this year being pretty slow for me, maybe I'll actually check out a few leads I have for hunting in other states. I have family friends who have land in sw Iowa and my wife has relatives in North Dakota and Illinois who also own land. I know that doesn't help the team this year. My not shooting a buck with a bow this year wasn't from lack of effort though. I spent more quiet time with my Bowtech than I did my wife the last few months.

Well fellas, i struck out this year with my Mathews. I let a few small ones walk early and didn't get another opportunity within bowrange. I did take a nice 7-point,with 15.5 inch spread in South Carolina with my .300 UM,so there's meat in the freezer but that didn't do much to help the team. My apologies and looking forward to next year. Mdrdirt

It has been fun I wish that I could have helped out but all I got was meat on the table ------maybe next year.
