I don't know where you are from but here in IL you don't have to give your name when you turn someone in to the DNR

good luck and God bless

Good question Newbowhunter! I was wondering the same thing.

You need to buck up and do the right thing mossberg. I'd also suggest finding some new friends.

Not to be harsh, but turn him in. He is a criminal and if you don't turn him in so are you.<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

He needs turned in for the crime he has committed.

Personally, I need this statement clarified!!

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> I felt so bad because what he had done. Does this mak me a bad hunter for what he did??? because myself i would never kill a babe deer???<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

You feel bad because he killed the baby deer....or about the whole incident itself?

Ive been thinking about this all day. Have you ever had someone say did ya hear about that big 12 pt shot last week. you say know how did he get him. they say well dont tell anyone but he got him under the lights. Then they preceed an how many racks hes got on his wall and how good of a hunter he is and blah blah ba blah...This makes me so mad. how can anyone that shoots under the lights look up at the rack in there living room and say I worked hard for that one. To me I couldnt even look at him. and these are the guys that have 4 or 5 nice racks on the wall. Put those boys in the woods with me or any one that really works for there trophy or meat and they would be lost. I shot a nine pt 3 years ago with my bow and it took me 7 yrs to get a opp. with several missed and close encounters, and alot of footwork and scouting. now I can look up at that deer and say I worked hard for that one. and be proud. I wish everyone good luck this year that works hard for it. just had to get that of my chest. and remember this PATIENCE and PERSISTANCE pays off

My concern , is that your only concern seems to be the fact that your buddies grandpa shot a fawn.
With 244 posts , I'm guessing you've been around here long enough to know what we think of poaching<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Are we being baited here fellas?

Young or Old, you know the difference between right & wrong or legal & illegal. Otherweise you wouldn't have asked the question or feel the way you do. I think you know what needs to be done....stop this man immediately. Turn him in to the DNR. He should be an example and I doubt your family would agree with the example he is setting. Whether you committed the act, to remian silent makes you GUILTY in the eyes of the law. Not saying your a Poacher, but if someone else witnessed this and turned pop's in your going with him. Buddies come and go, but guilt will last a lifetime....be ethical. Gut Gramp's before he starts a whole new generation of Poachers or you get caught in a situation you never wanted to be in.

If you feel bad only b/c it was a bambi....well then your wrong too. However i think it is probably the entire event that saddens you. Be strong and approach authority figures in your life that will stand with you. I bet your DNR has a turn in poacher line, so use it and quickly before the evidence is gone!

Good luck!!!!
