i have a backpack i use for hunting and it really stinks from being stored on the offseason. does anyone know how i can get the stink out of it in less than 8 days? i dont want to just mask the scent but completely get it out of the fabric. i have tried putting it in a sealed garbage bag with a sock of baking soda and it helped a little but not much. any ideas? i can't wash the pack either

For all of my gear that I can't throw into the washing machine, I mix up a big tub of water, baking soda and 3% peroxide and hand wash everything in that. Then I hang it outside to dry for a couple of days. You should notice that once it dries, the baking soda will be left in the fabric (or at least that's what I figured the white residue was). After it's dry, I store it in a scent free bag.

Mix enough water with baking soda so that it makes a very thick paste.
Using a stiff brush, brush the paste into the backpack thoroughly then let sit to dry.
When what little water is there evaporates you will be left with baking soda powder which will rub off easily and keep your backpack scent free for a long time.
I would also hang it outside upside down and open in a tree or something.

I wash my pack in scent killer with earth scent cover, then after i spray some more of the scent killer on it just to be certain. If you can't wash the pack then i would give it a real good spraying with scent killer with a cover scent of some kind. Then leave the pack outdoors so you don't need to spray it again.

every year when the hunting season ends I take all my hunting wear (pants shirts jackets backpack gloves etc.) and wash them in unscented uv free detergent then hang them in th sun after they are dry I put them in a plastic bag of some kind with some twigs, leaves, bark, sage, weeds anything I can collect from my favorite hunting grounds seal them in the bag with my gear. Then I store them in a cool dry place, you don't want to put them in a damp place or they will get musty.
