I don't watch his shows either. I'm of the opinion that the Wackmaster does more harm than good for us hunters. It's easy to get up and preach to the choir, but how many Non-hunters has he converted? I dare say he has pushed more fence sitters the other direction. Perception is reality. They see him as the leader of all hunters.[:@] Screaming in your face, spouting things that make no sense...yup, lets vote to give everyone like him guns...Holy Crap! The average non hunter isn't someone we want to offend. Rather impress with our kindness, manners, and actions. Just my two cents.

Oh, and Jeff,
I remember going to the theatre and paying 25 cents to watch Fred Bear hunt. Videos have come along way. One of my favorite hunting shows is where the guy grows food stands, shows him studying maps, doing pre-season scouting, hanging stands, setting up trail cameras, ....then hunting! Kind of gives you the urge to get out and do some exploring.

I have to dis-agree with you...he runs his Kamp 4 Kids every year which is a non-profit function where kids are taught bowhunting and how to say no to drugs and alcohol.

And rcd567...I don't know but have you heard of a little rock group by the name of Aerosmith? After their drug infested stupers...they started to listen to what Ted had to say...now they are clean and sober for some time now thanks to old Ted. You know how he did it...by introducing them to bowhunting, shooting, fishing, and giving them values...prior to that they never even tried it...and now they can't get enough of it. Secondly, Ted has stood up for hunters everywhere and recently was in the forefront of Michigan passing the bill to finally allow dove hunting in my state. I would feel very safe giving someone like Ted guns...he is a Deputy Sherrif. He has done more to promote the sport and combat and defeat anti-hunting groups then many organizations. I feel that most of you out there who feel he is too drastic in his actions are too complacent to even stand up against animal rightists by yourself and not hiding behind a "group"...if you ever have...you would be just as irrate as he is when you see how il-logical they really are. People who try to be nice and cuddly while trying to explain our sport are just going to be grease-spots when the antis come their way. All they have to do is show a little cuddly bear or deer being shot and they start to sway public opinion. Trust me I used to be just as nice as some of you here in this forum...it wasn't until I got up of my kind butt got a little ruffled and finally explained it...we won. And if perception is reality...(going by the 25 cent Fred Bear shows and lack of knowledge of what Ted has done for our sport) you are a very old, ignorant human being.

Unfortunatley the "hug fest" you talk about is exactly how many here in this forum feel is how we should promote the sport.

Yup,
I can tell your a Ted fan! As for you whack, I happen to have a college education, been a cop all my life, and faced more danger head on then dear old Ted or you for that matter. Yep, very old too...44 is extremely old to most of you teenagers. Since Ted is a Deputy, he should cut his hair and shave! I've worked for three different departments and other then the Narcs, you can't have hair over your ears or collar, and the only facial hair allowed is on you upper lip. Oh, and since the largest voting group of people happen to be women between 30 and 80, why don't you find a few, walk up to them and start screaming in their faces. Bet you meet some of my associates real soon!

I too have watched the Nuge and he is a little radical for my taste but I think it is good to have diversity in everything including hunting.

As for hunting, I also do not believe any of these shows depict the type of hunting we do in Wisconsin. If we talked as much as they do on TV, we would never see any deer.

I had an opportunity last fall (archery) to stalk some whitetail right out in the open on a soybean field. I started over 300 yards away, and was able to walk up to within 60 yards before they made me. I didn’t get a shot, I didn’t take an animal, but that was the best hunting experience I have ever had!

Uncle Ted is probably one of the most intelligent men in the hunting business. For those that say "I dont want him fighting for our cause" have missed the boat. Ted goes on shows like The Oreilly Factor and others to tell OUR story. He goes head to head with the left wing freaks. He is not discussing exotics vs. wild or fence vs. no fence. He is preaching the hunting gospel. He is a hunter like us. Who are we to tell him what to hunt and where. As long as its within the law...its hunting.

For those that complain about the show, how would you do it...all kill footage all the time with no commercials??? Right.

Support Uncle Ted whether you like it or not he is fighting for you.

Ted's show has about as much to do about hunting as This Old House has to do with construction. Sitting in a blind on a pay/lease ranch behing high fences where you pick the buck/pig/exotic you shoot has NOTHING to do with hunting, at least where I live, and I think it hard to call anything about it "Wild."

Ted talks up his mentor Fred Bear, but I bet Fred would not have a lot of good things to say about the show and the way Ted portrays hunting. Personally, I think Ted has gon way around the bend and has forgotten about what hunting is really all about. Sure he talks about the woods, smells, purity...until that pen-raised buck gets pushed by so he can shoot it in front of the camera. Personally I would like to see ol' Ted spend a few days trying to bust a big whitetail in the UP like some of us do.
