So, how many outfitters that have guided anybody to a world record head, or a top 10 head, or a top 50 head (whatever) try to hide this fact? Other than Adams' honcho.
First, I'd like to disavow jealousy, as some nimrod here accused me. I'll reserve my jealousy for somebody I've got a shot to beat, obviously Adams is in another universe from me as a bowhunter.
Second, I'm not selling out to any accusations. But, I do think the details are awfully strange. Maybe his guide was the one guide in 1,000 who would want to conceal his involvement in a world record. Maybe the banning of game farms was just a fluke coincidence with the sudden emergence of MT bulls at the top ranks of the bow records. Maybe MT bulls suddenly jumped onto a whole new realm genetically. Maybe.
Finally, it's simply not true that Chuck Adams is universally revered in his field. I know Craig Boddington thinks he's a bum, for starters.
Anyhow, does anyone know how many world records, and for which species Adams holds? It's always been my impression, granting that I may well be wrong, that some of his world records are animals from other continents that can only be "hunted" in canned settings inside fences. Again, I could well be totally wrong on this point, but if not it would really speak back to the elk question with the banning of the game farms.
I just ran into an interview of Adams back in '88, and I really tried to read it with an open mind, to get a feel for what the guy is about. He sounds alright until he's talking about this sheep hunt he was on, where he was defending taking a long shot on a ram. Now I'm sure Chuck Adams can make longer shots than I can, that's not my beef. But he said something on these lines, "What am I supposed to do? Pass up a marginal shot and jeopardize my whole hunt?" I'm paraphrasing 'cause I don't have the magazine on hand, but the statement really reinforces my negative opinion of the man. He's so caught up in his pursuit, that he views passing up a questionable shot as ruining his hunt. That attitude is not welcome in my hunting camp, I'll say that.

The banning of game farms in Montana was due to a little problem we call CWD. The Montana department of livestock regulated the wild game farms and I can assure you they were very capable. Have you ever dealt with the state of Montana and department of livestock on captive game farm issues Dirt2? I think you know not of what you speak.
Graig Boddington is a retired marine/gun expert /outdoor writer. Many in the gun and military circles will tell you these are self proclaimed titles except for the marine tag.

Look up the definition of nimrod, there timbow. I was trying to make a half-arsed compliment in a contentious situation. Okay, I'll save you the trouble, it means hunter. But, if you insist you're not a hunter, why are you on this site in the first place?

Actually ot means Great Hunter. I guess I new that but I did'nt know you knew that and Thought you were being mean alot of people use nimrod to insult people and don't know the origin of the word. And I am on this sight to learn and to help others with bowhunting and archery. So the mud slinging stops here

For Dirt2 I'd just like to try and clear up a couple of things for you. 1) I have hunted the same ranch that Chuck has hunted elk on and the elk are wild and free ranging. The only fences there are 5 strand barbwire for cattle. It also has a good population of elk and the herds are continuing to increase. 2) The mysterious guide is my friend and we have hunted together for elk on this ranch that has private and public land. He is also a bow hunter. He is not rich or famous and doesn't want to be. 3) Just because a bull comes from NM or AZ doesn't mean it is going to be a world record. The elk in MT have continued to grow in number and as proven in size. The genetics are good in the area of the Missouri breaks and the Bull Mountains where these elk have migrated from. You may want to look up some records taken from that area. 4) If you want to know what animals Chuck Adams has taken you could look in a Pope and Young record book for all the details. To be entered in the P&Y record book I believe that the animal must be taken under fair chase rules. No animal that is penned will qualify. (I may be wrong on this).
As for Craig Boddington, I have never heard of him in the bow hunting area. I have heard of Glenn St. Charles and Fred Bear as the old timers and the newer ones I have heard of are Greg Getchow(? spelling) and Chuck Adams.
I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I would just like to see you give credit where credit is due. I have the same opportunities of harvesting a world record elk as Chuck Adams does but I have a hard time passing up a medium size bull to wait for a bigger one. I am quite sure that he has to pass up a few big bulls to get to that world record elk.
I hope this has maybe answered a couple of your questions, and as bow hunters we can stand together and agree to just disagree on some issues but remain united as bow hunters.

Have you ever heard of CWD, ever read where it originally came from? Do you really think the state of Montana is going to let a bunch of "Game Farm Elk" run loose into their wild population and ruin a multi-billion dollar a year industery? Come On!
If people aint haiting, your not doing something right. I guess Chuck is on the money.
I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the Kennedy assination; I bet that was a consperiousy too?
