Could someone please explain how to correct a left tear in paper tuning? Some tuning guides I' ve seen recommend moving the arrow rest or centershot to the right or towards the bow, while others recommend moving the rest to the left. Which is it? To me, if the arrow is traveling knock left, then it must be leaving the bow pointing slightly to the right. If this is the case shouldn' t the fix be to move the arrow rest to the left or away from the bow? (This is assuming a right handed archer)

Does the direction you move your rest depend on whether you shoot fingers or a mechanical release?

I am currently shooting a Mathews Q2 with a shoot thru prong rest (Nap Quicktune 1000). I shoot 70 lbs, 29" draw, a release, and use easton super slams 2315s. I have always noticed significantly more wear on my right prong silencer than my left, even when I have achieved perfect bullet holes.

when you have a left tear in the paper, this means that your arrow is entering the paper angled to the right. if you think about it it is like sighting in your bow, if you shoot high, move it high. if you shoot low, then move it low. so if you have a left tear, this means to move your rest to the left. considering you are a right handed shooter. this would correct the direction of your arrow travel. if you draw it on a piece of paper when you are doing it, you can see the corrections that need to be made.

What you say sounds right to me. In fact, it makes perfect sense. So why does the easton tuning guide recommend moving the rest to the right to correct for a left tear for a release shooter?

first off are you griping your bow it could be something as simple as you are torquing your bow if so try to let the bow just rest in your hand maybe just touch the front of your bow with your index finger
