Default Finally rattled in some deer!

In the 10 years I have been hunting deer, Saturday evening is the first time I have ever had any deer come in to rattling. I was hunting a WMA here in KY and tried a little rattling. I had 3 spikes come in to the first sequence. The first 2 started sparring a little bit and then the third one came in and intimidated the first 2. It was weird, he was the same body size but his spikes were about twice the size of the other 2 and he scared them away. I could of shot 2 of them but I passed. After my next sequence, two 6-pointers came in but I lost them as it got dark. I' ll have to say, that was some exciting stuff. As the first three were there, a doe and a yearling passed through about 80 yards away and they paid her no attention. A cold (colder) front is coming through this week, maybe the big boys will start some daytime moving. My younger cousin, who was on his 3rd bowhunt, drew back on a yearling but some branches were in the way and he didn' t get a shot before a doe busted him. He has drawn back on deer on 2 out of his first 3 hunts. Man it' s great to see a newbie get so excited. He was shaking all night! He' s hooked for life now!
