Who DOESN"T live close to a hunting area?

Downtown Chicago here, if I want to even think about hunting, it's an hour and a half to pheasant hunt public land. The only deer property I have access too is 5 hours away in Michigan. I would give my big toe for some hunting ground within an hour and a half of Chicago, but there is either not enough land, to tough to get permission or leases are way to expensive. Not much you can do![:@]

If you love doing it then id say you have a bowhunting addiction
Im lucky i guess, i can walk from the house or drive around within a couple miles at most.

i guess i could hunt closer to home if people weren't so greedy about their land. there are hunting clubs and large private farms all over the place where i live, but i don't belong to the clubs and wouldn't want to run dogs anyway, and the people that own the private farms either don't want people hunting or want it all to themselves (that's okay, i understand that it's their property and they want to enjoy it). so i have to drive 20 minutes to hunt a spot i have permission to hunt that has a few small deer, or i have to drive an hour to my cousin's and i can only do that a couple of times a year. it sucks but i love it, maybe one day i'll run into some money and land, or marry into it.

Have WMA hunting just up the road. But on Aug. 15th GUN season opens and all HELL breaks loose. Rifles and running dogs while using buck shot. Kinda hard to bow hunt in 95 deg. weather after all of that.[:@]

I hunt all state land which sucks, but my closest hunting land which really is all swamp so i dont go there is like 15-20 minutes away.

I'm lucky. I only have about 13 miles to drive to my main huntingspot. And about 1 mile to a small piece of private land that I hunt early in the season for doe.
