What I find funny is some of the guys who say "Shoot what you want" for a buck, get all manly about shooting a fawn
So what is it guys? I have no desire to kill a 1.5 buck, and it's about as challenging as shooting a fawn during the rut, LOL

If it's legal why do so many care[&:] You think a wolf says "Too small"?

It's a choice of the hunter.
Good post ....... but who says "shoot what you want" and then gets manly about shooting a fawn? Please dont make me read all those pages

I guess if we wanted to make it challenging we could make them try to shoot a doe fawn with a Ross.[:-];)

An empty freezer? Because they taste good.........[8D]
Same, if they're dumb enough to walk in front of me they aren't smart enough to be allowed to breed anyway.

RE: What would it take to make you kill a doe fawn?

I skipped all the pages right to the end because it is an easy answer for me, and I don't care what others do or think. For me, all it takes is for one to wander in range for a good shot (and it not be during the prime time rut). Why? Because I go into the woods and sit in a tree to kill a deer, because I have a tag for it, and because removing a doe is a benefit to the overall health of the herd.

I'll shoot'em if I can tell 100% their not a button buck. I'll even take 100 yard running shot at em just to level the playing field a bit.

RE: What would it take to make you kill a doe fawn?

I don't like to shoot yearling animals, period. I try to harvest the game that has the same amount of experience I have.

I'll smoke a 1.5 year old doe all day long. But they get a pass for being a yearling in my neck of the woods.

IMO, it is like killing the birds that nest in my wreaths. They have no experience. I hunt for mature animals because it is hard. Really hard. If I want good meat, I shoot a doe (Do this anyway for herd purposes).

You do what you want, I do what I want, GAME ON.

Icall......there's nothing dumber IMO than a 1.5 yr old buck....lol (yearling).:D

At least a fawn's usually with someone a lot smarter than him/her to help look out for them. A 1.5 yr old buck usually wears targets with a huge 12 ring in the middle that reads "KILL ME, PLEASE".;)
