Mathews has not had the "cough cough" issues bowtech has had.
Could you elaborate?

In my personal opinion a bow company in this day in age with no cam options, a cam with no draw length adjustment (other than getting a new cam) and crappy strings is sort of dinasore. I think they make a fine bow, but I can't see them justifying the cost. Not when I can get a bow for less that shoots just as nice and comes with better strings, is adjustable and has a better grip.

That is just me though.

The reason why Mathews cams are not adjustable is b/c it performs best at that specific setting. I know I shoot a 28/60, so the cam that comes setup for that outperforms one that can be adjusted to my settings. I'm done growing, my settings won't change during the life of my bow, so adjustments are worthless in most cases.

Grip sizes are personal...everyone's hands are different. Can't blame a company for that.

The DXT grip is redesigned and much thinner.

Their 06 and newer Barracuda strings are made of 452x, the same materialmost custom string makers are using. I've found the newer strings to be quite stable, and end servings of very good quality.I can honestly say I haven't seen an 06-07 string that creeped an unusual amount out of the 100+ new Mathews we sold last year. The center servings leave a bit to be desired IMHO, they went to a thicker material on this to help get the diameter to fit most nocks, they had to do this becuause the stock strings come with fewer strands than most would use on a bow such as this. I replaced the center serving on my current Dren right away with BCY #62 and put around 500 shots on it before I swapped strings, and honestly it settled just as quickly and was just as stable as any custom string out there. If I didn't like Gibblet so much, and like the pretty colors to personalize my bow I wouldn't have bothered.

yeah, i want to second the deal w/ drawlength specific cams - more expensive to deal with on our end, but they're better than modules.

if you could mix bowtechs innovation w/ the quality of the mathewsbows - you'd really have something special.

as it goes - hoyt's top end bows are the best made, designed, and put together. i seriously doubt there is one staff shooter that wouldn't (when being honest) trade their competition bow for an ultra elite or pro elite in a heartbeat. i've taken pretty much all the high end bows apart from each manufacturer - and those bows take the cake. the one i want, the way i want it - around $1400. won't be getting that any time soon.

Heh, great input John, I also agree with you that Hoyt's top end Elite competition bows are absolute top shelf. There are very few companies that can compete when it comes to competition bows but the Apex series Mathews, and the Elite series Hoyts are head and shoulders above anything I've seen personally. I'd like to get my hands on one of the 07+ Constitutions to see the new design in a bit more detail but as it stands now I don't see anything comparing to the Mathews or Hoyts in this area and I've had my hands on most everything out there.

Folks use the grip as an excuse to be critical...easiest thing in the world to change and hardly a reason not to buy a particular bow, regardless of the brand. I'd most likely buy a custom one whether or not the original was good. Here's a Torque Less on mine:

I do not recall the Chief designer at Mathews having a meltdown, getting fired and selling his stock for 2 dollars a share on ebay

To say any bow company had been inoovative the last 5 years is nuts. I may buy the Airbourne 101 this year. It is a sweet shooter. Put an STS on my two cam command cam hoytand there is not much of a differnce IMO.
