The DXT grip is redesigned and much thinner.
Their 06 and newer Barracuda strings are made of 452x, the same materialmost custom string makers are using. I've found the newer strings to be quite stable, and end servings of very good quality.I can honestly say I haven't seen an 06-07 string that creeped an unusual amount out of the 100+ new Mathews we sold last year. The center servings leave a bit to be desired IMHO, they went to a thicker material on this to help get the diameter to fit most nocks, they had to do this becuause the stock strings come with fewer strands than most would use on a bow such as this. I replaced the center serving on my current Dren right away with BCY #62 and put around 500 shots on it before I swapped strings, and honestly it settled just as quickly and was just as stable as any custom string out there. If I didn't like Gibblet so much, and like the pretty colors to personalize my bow I wouldn't have bothered.
Folks use the grip as an excuse to be critical...easiest thing in the world to change and hardly a reason not to buy a particular bow, regardless of the brand. I'd most likely buy a custom one whether or not the original was good. Here's a Torque Less on mine:
