Not sure where your hunting but in the area I hunt I have all the yardages mark out. I have a 30 yard rope and I mark any tree that I can at certain ranges. I know this might not always be possible in places that lack terrain.

I also had 20yds marked on the rope as well.
I tied the rope to the front of my treestand so the distances were more accurateand also used it for pulling up my Bow. Where there were no trees to put flagging tape on I just stuck some into the ground with a stick(easily seen from the stand).

Wear a hat. Mark trees at ten yard intervals in a rough line. Look at the animal and lower the brim of your hat until thetopmost thing that you can see iswhere you intend to shoot. Turn your head without moving it upor down until you are looking at the line of trees. If the brim of your hat lets you see at the top of your vision the 10 yard marker, you are 10 yards away, same with 20, 30, or anything in between.
