I'm just looking for encouragement to keep me going back out there. I have never had much luck after the rut,but I can't kill a big buck from here. Have any of you ever had much success this late?
Success can be found man, KEEP HUNTING DOES. What I mean by that is stay where there are always does, because some of them will still come into heat, and where there's does, most generally there's bucks, even later in the season. Don't give up on it, keep hunting. You never know what may just walk around the next corner!

same here 442, I have been out four or five times after shotgun and ML. Haven't seen a thing, well I take that back. I can sometimes see the outline of deer feeding inthe cornfield on my way home. Tonight I left about 10 min before dark and saw about 20 in the same spot feeding every night. No permission to hunt there, but will be checking to see who owns it.!

Hang in there and good luck to all who are still trying to make it happen.

They didn't all get killed. The deer are still there, just hunkered in a little tighter than usual after gun season and the rut. They still have to move to eat. Patience and persistence are key and like you already said...you can't kill them sitting behind your computer.
Best of luck.

i am lucky....i have permission to hunt grounds that hardly get any pressure. The deer are starting to get into little and bigs herds. I saw 18 deer all in one area of the woods including a nice 8-10 point, a few smaller bucks and a pile of does. Also saw lone deer wondering as well.....you can bet I will be out hunting!!!

I love late season bowhunting. Arkansas deer and turkey archery season goes through Feb 28. The gun season closed on Sunday and given a couple of weeks they won't feel as pressured. I see many more deer in the late season than I do during October through December. Might be because there are fewer leaves on the trees. Problem is; the deer can see you better too, and it is hit or miss whether they will come into range. I've got two deer and one turkey tag to fill, and I'm pumped up about the prospects of the late season!
