Hey brang05, it takes a REAL man to admit when he's made a mistake. Like one of the other guys said, let your son know you made an error and ask if he'd like to go out with you. I'm sure he'll go with his dad!

I almost did the same thing last night after my sons football practice! He asked me what I wanted to do, go out in the Morning for the Bow Opener or hang out and practice with him for his Football game at 1:30pm! I almost slipped! I told him I'll hunt on Monday morning! He said cool! Turns out he has to ride a horse for a showing early in the morning! I'll be out in the woods for the first couple of hours in the AM, then practice a bit and take him to his Football game! Then going to the Packer game on Sunday!!!!!

Thanks for the post, we all need to be reminded occasionally about what's really important. The great thing about the outdoors is the chance it gives us to share with those who mean the most to us. Too many people get caught up in trying to bag the biggest buck they don't see the greatest chance in the world to spend time with a child, or older parent or whoever. I was fortunate enough to have a father who let me tag along and (I'm sure) ruin many hunts. I think I'll hug my daughter extra tight when I get home tonight, and ask her if she wants to tag along to the range (she usually does)

id definently apologize and make it up. dad took me EVErYWHERE and did everything with ME. the nights hed go coon hunting with his buddys..or a few times he went fishing where it was too dangerous for me to go i was crushed. when you young you dont know any better but to feel rejected...i now know fishing in a swift creek is too dangerous for a kid..and some of the hunting was too heavy for me at the time..and i now also know its nice to get out with the guys once in a while as well. when i was a kid i was spoiled by having a dad that took me hunting and fishing and scouting and shooting etc..ALL the time from the time i could walk. the times i didnt go i was crushed. when he would go hunting in the mountains for the weekends i thought he hated me and wasnt coming home. but i know now...then i didnt. definently try explaining it and making it up. the making up part is most important i think. i dont think he will truely understand if youd try to explain it....good luck..
